Location of Imprisoned Journalist, Omid Memarian, Still Unknown, ISNA

Nemat Ahmadi in an interview with ISNA announced that he went to the 9th
Chamber of the Airport Security, but was denied the opportunity to see his
client Omid Memarian. Mr. Ahmadi further explained that he has been told
that Memarian's location will be revealed to him tomorrow. Ahmadi went on
to say that he has been denied access to his other clients, Reza Vatanikhah
and Masoud Ghoreyshi, who were arrested because of their association as
technical support for the website of the Organization of Islamic
Revolutionary Fighters. He explained that he is also unaware of the
location of these two clients.

Omid Memarian's lawyer also explained that should there be a bond amount
identified for any of his clients he is prepared to post the bond in
exchange for their immediate release. Ahmadi has prepared a brief objecting
to a temporary arrest warrant in the case of these three clients, but thus
far, no arrest warrant has been issued. In the case of VataniKhah and
Ghoreyshi, Ahmadi explained that they have been held for over a month and
according to the law, their case should have been referred to a general
court, but such action has yet to be taken. He hopes that the 9th Chamber
of the Airport Security, associated with the Judiciary, will reveal to him
the location of his other clients, Vatanikhah and Ghoreyshi, tomorrow.

Omid Memarian was arrested on Sunday October 10th in his place of work and
his computer and personal notes were subsequently confiscated. No warrant
has been issued in the case of his arrest. His family and legal council
have been denied access to him and no information on his whereabouts is
available. Memarian was arrested as part of a new crack down on online
journalists. Iran remains the largest prison for journalists.
